LSW hosts Read-In for International Literacy Day

In honor of International Literacy Day on September 8th, LSW will hold a "Read-In" from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for our students to employ their newly earned skills. We hope you can join us!

International Literacy Day Background: September 8 was proclaimed International Literacy Day by the United Nations’ Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1965. Its aim is to highlight the importance of literacy to individuals, communities and societies. On International Literacy Day each year, UNESCO reminds the international community of the status of literacy and adult learning globally. Celebrations take place around the world. Some 776 million adults worldwide lack minimum literacy skills; one in five adults is still not literate and two-thirds of them are women.
